In an interactive and dynamic setting, learn the Arabic phonology, using transliteration in the beginning, moving gradually to a full Arabic script by week 8. We will develop listening, reading, writing (modern standard Arabic) and basic conversational skills. Learning will be enhanced by a companion website featuring an integrated set of interactive exercises that allow students to work independently. We will touch briefly on the history of the language, culture, poetry and music.
