Arduino Code and Circuits Level 1

Starting from zero, learn both the coding and the electronic circuits to develop solutions with a microcontroller. Begin by creating patterns of lights. Sense light and temperature, process that information and control mechanical devices like motors, lights and speakers. Learn to use a shift register and relays. Implement open source libraries and access memory. Instruction is 30% explanation and 70% hands-on building. Prerequisite: none. Families must purchase three materials in addition to the tuition:

*Be careful to purchase the exact item listed above. There are other Arduino kits with similar names, like Student Kit. There are also cheap kits from many companies that use the name "starter," including from Seed, Elegoo, GAR and SunFounder. Those are not the kits that students will use.

2 - USB cable type A/B - be careful it is B, not mini, micro or C. The B shape is a large square, not flat. Sometimes called an old-type USB printer cable. Any brand is OK. You can buy with the kit here:

3 - Two new 9 volt battery. Any brand. Unfortunately, rechargeables usually do not work.

heir cPlease note: Lunch is unsupervised. Students can bring lunch or buy at the sandwich shop across the driveway. Students are not permitted to go beyond the sandwich shop.
